Based on his new book The Wireless Operator, Dr David Tuch will recount his familyโs dark secret from the Cold War.
His cousin, a debonair Mancunian sailor named Harold Derber, pioneered the modern drug trade with his groundbreaking invention: the drug mothership. Drawing on newly declassified intelligence files, a loverโs memoir, and first-hand accounts, Tuch reveals how Derber exploited the Latin American guns-for-drugs trade to become the chief supplier of marijuana to 1970s America.
Dr David Tuch is an author, historian, and entrepreneur whose work explores the hidden histories of the twentieth century. David holds a PhD from MIT and Harvard Medical School. Originally from New York, he has lived in England and France and now resides in Brookline, Massachusetts, with his wife and four children. The Wireless Operator is his debut book.
