The Military Intelligence Museum explores the hidden world of intelligence gathering, analysis and interpretation, with a particular focus on the Intelligence Corps and Britain’s Cold War story. During National Cold War Heritage Week, visitors can join a curator-led tour uncovering the vital but often unseen role of military intelligence in shaping global events.
Highlights include material from the BRIXMIS Collection, featuring artefacts, photographs and archive film from the British Mission in East Germany, offering rare insight into Cold War reconnaissance operations. Visitors will also discover the legacy of the United States Air Force at Chicksands through the “Fighting Chicks” collection, and learn about the vital work of the Y Service based at the site during and after the Second World War. The museum’s Medmenham Collection further traces the evolution of aerial photographic interpretation from its earliest beginnings to the present day, revealing how intelligence work has continuously adapted to meet modern challenges.
