Across the UK, our partner sites have reported increased visitor numbers, fuller tours, stronger engagement and a real appetite from the public to explore Britainโs Cold War story.
From bunkers and radar stations to museums, archives and former airfields, the week has showcased the extraordinary breadth of this heritage and the people who care for it. This yearโs programme saw everything from guided tours and hands on displays, to talks, film screenings, family activities and behind the scenes access.

To every organisation that opened its doors, ran an event, shared content online, or welcomed new audiences this week – thank you. National Cold War Heritage Week is only possible because of the commitment, creativity and generosity of the UKโs Cold War heritage community.
As we build towards next year, The Cold War Network is doubling down on our support for those who own, manage or curate a Cold War site or collection. Thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we will co-create two sector toolkits with member organisations to strengthen long term capacity across the field.

Our Education Toolkit will support curriculum linked learning, school engagement and age appropriate interpretation. Meanwhile, our Engagement & Organisational Resilience Toolkit will offer practical guidance on volunteer recruitment, event planning, interpretation, community engagement and sustainability.
These resources are designed with the sector, for the sector, ensuring Cold War heritage organisations of every size have access to practical, relevant tools that help them thrive.
